CB West Paddle Boards is a stand up paddle board (SUP), guided tour and rental business based in the Margaree Harbour and along the Margaree River. We are completely mobile, and will use this opportunity to explore different bodies of water in the surrounding area.
"Life's a beach" has taken on a whole new meaning in the Summer of 2016. It had been an ongoing dream and conversation piece of mine for well over a decade to begin a beach-side/water sport eco-tour and rental company; and in July of 2016, the dream became a reality. The goal: spend as much time on the beach as possible, while sharing the natural splendor of the place that I call home. Some may call it being a professional beach bum - and I'm OK with that. Rolling into the summer of 2018, the focus of CB West has shifted from pure beach bummery, to exploring the dynamic Margaree River.
The paddle board aspect of this venture is a relatively new idea to the masterplan, having only stepped on a SUP for the first time in 2014 (little did I know that it would change my life). At first I was skeptical of the SUP medium. Coming from a kayak background, I wasn't immediately sold on this new method of paddle propulsion. There is always a sense of uncertainty when stepping out of your comfort zone, trying something new, and learning a new skill set. All sense of uncertainty melted away the first time I took a board out onto the Margaree. Gently drifting along with the lazy tidal current, free to move around and only restricted by my balance (which is not very restrictive), embracing the warm summer rays, and in complete awe of my surroundings. It may sound cliche, but I felt totally connected to life on the river: with eagles soaring overhead from perch to perch, salmon and stripped bass jumping, inquisitive beavers swimming underneath, and even almost running into a deer. This river totally sells itself. So do the beaches.
Do yourself a favor, and check out what we have going on here at CB West! We can't wait to share our world with you :)
